Ventspils Nafta among most sustainable companies
Annual sustainability performance was recently evaluated by many companies in Latvia. We are proud of our members' achievements in the Sustainability Index 2015: Ventspils Nafta achieved Platinum, Cemex, Nordea Bank AB Latvia branch and SEB Bank Gold, Coca-Cola HBC Latvia Silver, but GlaxoSmithKline and RISEBA Bronze. Overall 3 Platinum, 11 Gold, 18 Silver and 7 Bronze awards were given.

Members: CSR is an integral part of business development
Inese Karpovica, a recent BA graduate in the Management of International Communication from the Turiba University devoted her diploma thesis to exploring CSR as a factor of development in AmCham. Members admitted that CSR is essential for their company development resulting in customer loyalty, better risk management, improved financial performance and reputation. In members' opinion AmCham CSR activities help build stronger cooperation and partnership among members. The Human Development Award was mentioned by members as the most successful activity among recent CSR activities conducted by AmCham.

The people are who really matter
Jurmalas aizsardzibas biedriba, Ikskiles Briva Skola, RMHC Latvija and Andris Ceksters were awarded the Human Development Award of Latvia 2015 on April 16 during the Awards Ceremony Dinner at the State Gymnasium No.2. The winners received a custom-made sculpture "Sprout" designed by artist Olga Silova, an Award certificate and other special prizes by the program partners and sponsors. AmCham together with the US Embassy and Civic Alliance of Latvia hosted the Human Development Awards for the 2nd consecutive year.

Modest level of trust in NGOs, research finds
As a result of Corporate-NGO partnership seminar held in December 2014, the research on Corporate Social Responsibility and civil society in Latvia was conducted by Roger A. Ritvo, Ph.D. and Anna Feldmane from Riga Business School. The research shows that Corporate-NGO partnerships are continuing to develop, however, the majority of respondents have a modest level of trust in NGOs.

Let's help children left without their biological parents get ready for school! The Latvian Foster Family Association kindly asks to support their annual campaign "School children must go to school".

The more you eat the more you help
SOS Children's Villages and famous Latvian chefs invite you to the restaurants on September 1st in order to support the charity campaign "The more you eat - the more you help". Many restaurants will donate 10 percent of their turnover generated on the day of the campaign to help the children get prepared for the new school year.

Can you help children see?
Since the launch of its operations more than 16,000 medical exams have been performed by RMHC Latvija Care Mobile. Currently RMHC is looking for donations of used glasses (frames) for children. If you have glasses which are depreciated, but the frames are still valid, the Care Mobile is ready to collect them.

57 000 EUR raised for children in Ukraine
57 000 EUR were fundraised in the campaign "Children of War" in support of Ukrainian children who have suffered from the horror of war. Our member Skrivanek Baltic provided free translations of informative materials in several languages for the campaign.

Many ways to help SOS community
SOS Childrens' Villages in Latvia have completed several projects and activities with the generous support of AmCham members. Children had a chance to play sports and games with Microsoft and AON teams. CBRE established sandplay therapy room for SOS children in Islice. With the support of SEB bank the campaign "Because he/she has YOU" was held this spring and summer, encouraging regular contributions to SOS families.
