Welcome to our monthly newsletter. This month we held our Annual General Meeting and the Board election. John Tully will continue to lead AmCham while Roberts Melbardis, Pauls Miklasevics, Ieva Racenaja, and Guntars Krols will serve as Vice Presidents.
Last week we had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Health to discuss the reorganization of the healthcare system. Earlier this week we hosted our Thought Leaders Program - a special program for our Corporate Contributing members - in which we met the new Director General of the State Revenue Service and gained her insights about the improvement of tax system administration. Also, this month we visited our member Mitigate offices to gain an overview of AI applications in business.

AmCham holds its Annual General Meeting
|
|
On March 7, more than 90 members and guests joined the AmCham Annual General Meeting to review the past year’s activities and elect the Board of Directors. In his opening remarks at the AGM, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Robinson emphasized the importance of economic security in Latvia’s overall security posture. The Ambassador praised AmCham for its support in encouraging Latvia’s adoption of de-risking and energy strategies that would make it easier for foreign investors to gain access to banking services and make it clear to the private sector how they can invest in Latvia’s energy sector.

John Tully continues to lead AmCham

John Tully was re-elected as the Chairman of the Board and President of AmCham. On his priorities John said: "Economic security is an essential part of national security, and we will continue to call policymakers to make it a higher priority. We welcome closer transatlantic cooperation and look forward to working together with our members and partners to attract more American investment to Latvia. Beyond the capital FDI brings, it also ensures knowledge transfer, innovation, good corporate governance, and career opportunities for local talents. We will make sure even more international companies select Latvia as their business location." Read more

AmCham leadership speaks at LACC Town Hall

|
AmCham representatives spoke on strengthening the partnership with the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce (LACC) to promote U.S.-Latvia economic ties for enhancing economic security at the Annual Town Hall of LACC. Among other speakers were LACC Co-Chairs Janis Bergs and Lauris Lambergs, Latvian Ambassador to the U.S. Maris Selga, President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce Aigars Rostovskis and Board member of Red Jackets Association Edite Sipko. Unveiling the roadmap for healthcare transformation

On March 22, members had the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the healthcare system with Hosams Abu Meri, Minister of Health during AmCham's speaker luncheon. The Minister laid out a comprehensive plan for healthcare transformation - one that is resilient, digital, and adaptive in the face of evolving demands. In addition to the Minister, the luncheon was joined by several high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Health and NHS. Read more

On March 20, members had an opportunity to visit Mitigate offices for the March Business After Hours and participate in an informative and timely session on leveraging Generative AI for business growth. The event was filled with an exciting atmosphere enhanced by AI-created profiles, gourmet treats, and AI-powered raffle. Top-tier members convene with new Director General of State Revenue Service

On March 26 our Corporate Contributing members joined a special meeting with Baiba Smite-Roke, Director General of the State Revenue Service. Ms. Smite-Roke gave an insight into her priorities for the future strategic development of the State Revenue Service and the improvement of Latvia's tax system. Read more

Healthcare work group meeting
|
|
On March 14, the AmCham Healthcare work group in their meeting continued to discuss the position on the EU Pharma legislation, the draft Law on Support for innovation and priority projects, as well as future priorities of the new Oncology plan. Group members also discussed feedback on a survey about the activities and performance of HCWG and took part in a small brainstorming workshop. Read more

On March 4, Digital Affairs and AI work group members held a second hybrid work group meeting to set the directions and priority areas. The group will focus on sharing members’ expertise and engaging with policymakers through discussions and events. Read more
