Welcome to our Newsletter and welcome to the new season. After a short summer break, we are back with a busy program to deliver maximum value to our members. Last week our board met to assess activities during the past six months and to do strategic planning. Our events will continue to be online, hybrid and in-person, and we welcome you to use the many opportunities to network, gain relevant information and knowledge for your business to adjust to a new model of the economy. Celebrating summer with a BBQ

Over 45 members gathered at the courtyard of Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel to celebrate the summer season with a BBQ event. Welcomed by AmCham President Zinta Jansons, members were addressed by Richard Damstra, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy who delivered greetings on the occasion of 245th Anniversary of the American Independence Day. The Three Seas Summit and Business Forum in Sofia

Bulgaria hosted the Three Seas Initiative on July 8-9, 2021 in Sofia. At the summit ten AmChams presented a joint declaration in support for better infrastructure, diversified and secure energy sources and fast digitalization and innovation. The next Three Seas Summit is set to take place in Riga, Latvia in 2022. Read more

 

What will healthcare after the pandemic look like?

On August 5, Daniels Pavluts, Minister of Health addressed members on the healthcare sector most pressing challenges. Among the main priorities remain vaccination in order to ensure open schools and open businesses. He reflected on the Digital Health Strategy as an ecosystem where the state institutions define the architecture and ensure governance principles, while the ecosystem feeds the architecture with the content. The Minister also appreciated the ongoing AmCham healthcare projects and is looking forward to co-hosting the second Health Data Summit this November. The Board meets for a strategic planning session

The AmCham Board and staff met for a strategic planning session at the Grand Hotel Kempinski on August 26. The board follows closely the key priority areas set in the beginning of the year, including fostering trade and investment and continuously raising awareness of economic opportunities between Latvia and the U.S., improving the investment and business climate in Latvia, getting prepared for the future of work and improving health outcomes of Latvia’s society. Latest updates of the Healthcare WG

On August 19, the healthcare work group members met for the first meeting after the summer break to discuss numerous topics: the biobank law, increasing public health funding, online meeting with the Minister of Health and healthcare Innovation Fund of the Recovery and Resilience Facility for Latvia. The work group also discussed latest developments of the five healthcare pilot projects of 2021. Read more

Delna's study on lobbying practices is out

Transparency International Latvia/Delna has recently published an extensive study on current interest representation (lobbying) practices in Latvia at the national level and in municipalities, ethical and unethical interest representation, communication of interest representatives with decision-makers, and examples of lobbying standards worldwide.  Read more

Encompass announces a five-year renewal deal with TV3 Group

August 24,  Encompass Digital Media, a global managed service provider for TV networks, broadcasters, sports leagues and OTT platforms, announced a five-year renewal with Baltic-based broadcaster TV3 Group. Encompass will provide TV3 Group with end-to-end cloud-based playout and media management services for 17 channels, together with disaster recovery and archive storage. Read more

Dynatech develops a world-class airline ticketing platform

DYNATECH has been the core center of competencies for DYNINNO Group’s ASAP Tickets and has supported it in IT and marketing for the last five years. Thanks to Dynatech the ASAP Tickets platform has been able to triple the number of its customers and has attracted 32,200,242 new platform users, as well as sold 1,128,301 tickets to numerous and popular destinations. SAF Tehnika company grows by 134%

In the fourth quarter of the 2020/2021 financial year, the unaudited consolidated net turnover of SAF Tehnika group was €8.2M representing an increase of 134% compared to the same period of the past year and is the highest ever sales volume in a single quarter. The group ended the fourth quarter of the 2020/2021 financial year with an unaudited profit of €2.04M.   Read more

News on entry requirements to Latvia

On August 24, the Cabinet of Ministers has extended the list of countries of which the COVID-19 certificates comply with entry requirements to Latvia. As of September 1, U.S. citizens with valid COVID certificates will be able to enter Latvia without additional restrictions.  Read more
