Healthcare work group meeting

On March 14, the AmCham Healthcare work group in their meeting continued to discuss the position on the EU Pharma legislation, the draft Law on Support for innovation and priority projects, as well as future priorities of the new Oncology plan. Group members also discussed feedback on a survey about the activities and performance of HCWG and took part in a small brainstorming workshop.

AmCham holds its Annual General Meeting

On March 7, more than 90 members and guests joined the AmCham Annual General Meeting to review the past year’s activities and elect the Board of Directors. In his opening remarks at the AGM, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Robinson emphasized the importance of economic security in Latvia’s overall security posture. The Ambassador praised AmCham for its support in encouraging Latvia’s adoption of de-risking and energy strategies that would make it easier for foreign investors to gain access to banking services and make it clear to the private sector how they can invest in Latvia’s energy sector.

On February 29, Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel invited members to the Business After Hours at their premises with a welcome speech by the management about hotel renovation. More than 40 members who attended the networking event had an opportunity to tour the hotel's premises, spa zone and restaurant.

Presenting our ideas to Parliament

On February 27 AmCham was invited to the meeting of the Economic, Agricultural, Environmental, and Regional Development Committee of the Saeima to present its view on Latvia's competitiveness and investment attraction. AmCham was represented by its Vice President and Labor Force WG Lead Ieva Racenaja, Investment Promotion WG Lead Guntars Krols, and Executive Director Liga Smildzina-Bertulsone who accentuated the need to more actively and ambitiously promote Latvia as an investment destination and leverage human capital for growth to strengthen Latvia's economic security.

Labor Force work group meeting

On February 26, the AmCham Labor Force work group convened for its first meeting of the year. The group discussed the Human Capital development strategy prepared by the Ministry of Economics and AmCham's response to it, as well as the next steps for submitting amendments to the Labor Law. Representatives from FICIL joined the discussion with their comments on both the strategy and said amendments.
