Roche Latvija is pleased to be part of the AmCham community.
Rauls Vēliņš, General Manager, Roche Latvija
We are pleased to report that 2018 has been an extremely productive year for AmCham, continuing to serve our members in providing access, network and visibility. 43 events were held from our popular programs such as luncheons and Business After Hours, Opera Night, Outlook, the U.S. Independence Day celebration to new initiatives such as the Latvian-American Innovation Award and trainings for professional development of members. Based on your feedback, we have built closer cooperation with the fellow chambers in the region by offering joint meetings. Last year we expanded our Gateway to the USA program with a new partner - Latvian American Chamber of Commerce - in order to assist Latvian companies to develop business ties with the partners in the U.S. as well as to attract more U.S. investment to Latvia. In addition, 2834 members and guests attended our events, we invited 35 speakers, attracted 27 sponsors and 53 in-kind sponsors. We are extremely grateful for support and engagement of our members.
On the advocacy front, we have been actively following the processes affecting the business environment. As we welcome the new government, we emphasize the following priorities: necessity to improve the financial system, strengthen the rule of law, improve the quality of education and healthcare systems, increase the competitiveness of the country and attract more investment. We have continued to address the demographic challenges and tightening of the labor market as we believe Latvia should become more active and vocal in attracting international talent. We continue to work on the Internal Market Committee of the Ministry of Economics raising issues identified by our members. This year, we will continue our role as the leading international business forum in Latvia for exchanging views, networking and connecting with key decision-makers.
