Gundars Ziemanis, Latvia branch Country Manager, Siemens Healthineers
Members and guests were delighted to attend a farewell luncheon for HE Nancy Bikoff Pettit, US Ambassador to Latvia on Wednesday, June 19 at the Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel.
Ambassador Pettit emphasized the close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and AmCham as well as importance of bilateral relations between Latvia and the U.S. According to the Ambassador, allocation 2% of GDP for national defense and conclusion of the intergovernmental agreement with the United States for purchase of "Black Hawk" helicopters will strengthen the country's defense capability. Predictable tax regime, reduction of shadow economyand other challenges of the business environment were mentioned by the Ambassador.
We would like to recognize the strong partnership Ambassador Pettit has built with the American business community and with the people of Latvia. Since her arrival, the Ambassador has been truly responsive and committed to supporting the international business community in Latvia, and we would like to acknowledge her contributions and thank her for being such a close cooperation partner and friend!
We are very pleased to be part of AmCham and are looking forward to driving innovation forward in Latvia.
