Recognizing that labor shortage challenges are severely affecting the business and investment climate, AmCham conducted a survey about Latvia's labor market and attraction of talent. 38% of AmCham members representing businesses and organizations of all sizes and sectors participated in the internet survey carried out over the course of eight weeks from February to April, 2019.

During the last labor force work group meeting it was decided to identify two priority areas based on the labor force survey: Latvia as a career destination (attracting and retaining talent both domestic and international, including re-emigration) and skills development. Among key recommendations will be calling to create a comprehensive strategy and website for talent attraction.

Members also decided to communicate the main findings together with specified recommendations to various stakeholders including policy-makers and media. The aim of the recommendations will be to provide hands-on recommendations for attracting and retaining talent, which would enable Latvia to strengthen its productivity and competitiveness.
