How to accelerate FDI in times of pandemic

Apr 09, 2021
Online

On April 9, members were invited to join an online meeting with Kaspars Rozkalns, Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA).

Since assuming his post in January 2020, Mr. Rozkalns has been focusing on improving Latvia’s international competitiveness. Attracting foreign investment and fostering bilateral business ties may be especially challenging during the time of pandemic, however, LIAA has achieved a lot – from implementing a fast-track channel for strategic investments to developing the long-awaited Latvia’s brand strategy. Mr. Rozkalns gave an update on the status of LIAA’s representation in the U.S. and what the business community can do to help attracting more U.S. investment to Latvia.

Mr. Rozkalns outlined not only main LIAA areas of activity for facilitating foreign investment but also for increasing export and competitiveness of Latvian companies: incentives for investors with funds for staff training, R&D and RRF facility for economic transformation, grants and loan programs to support both export growth as well as SMEs exporting companies.

This time webinar started with an informal networking session 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting during which members were divided into several groups to have a small mingling.
