On September 26, AbbVie, celebrating its 10th Anniversary in Latvia, hosted an excellent Business After Hours event.

The event was opened by Guillaume Huge, AbbVie GM Baltic States & Ukraine and Gunta Nusbauma, AbbVie Finance Director, Baltic States & Ukraine who introduced members with AbbVie and the company's latest accomplishments.

It was followed by an insightful presentation on the sustainability of healthcare systems and a discussion led by Daiga Behmane, PhD, Riga Stradins University. She outlined the main challenges Latvia is currently facing - growth of healthcare spending, uneven distribution of healthcare outcomes, safety issues as well as shortage of healthcare professionals. She emphasized the large number of sick leaves and the burden of out-of-pocket spending. According to Dr. Behmane, the best solution would be to maximize healthcare outcomes by introducing new concepts and showing strong leadership. She also stressed the importance of value-based healthare concept that was launched by AmCham and Riga Stradins University in May 2022 as well as digitalization as a main instrument to transformation.

Huge thanks to AbbVie for an amazing event with excellent food and wine!
