EMPOWER HER: Advancing a more inclusive and supportive environment for women

Oct 11
Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel, Elizabetes iela 55

A group of AmCham members convened to discuss ways how to promote the #EmpowerHer initiative, a collaborative effort between the US Government and AmChams in Europe to advance women's economic empowerment and entrepreneurship. We are delighted to welcome Inga Korneliusa (Radisson Group) and Evita Feldberga (Roche) as co-leaders of the new AmCham work group which will lead this initiative further.

If you are passionate about promoting equality and empowering women in business and the workplace, please get involved! We are looking for your ideas, input and expertise to drive positive change in our community and organizations. Feel free to contact the AmCham office if you would like to become involved.

AmCham Latvia has joined the Empower Her initiative along with other AmChams in Europe to encourage women’s economic empowerment. The initiative was launched in 2022 by the U.S. Department of Commerce along with AmCham EU and AmChams in Europe.

The Empower Her initiative supports a more inclusive diverse and fair future by:

- Committing to increase female representation in leadership positions;
- Investing to increase and deepen programs that develop skills and opportunities among women;
- Promoting leadership development opportunities for women and other under-represented groups through targeted initiatives such as sponsorship and mentor programs;
- Identifying opportunities to reduce gender pay gaps and implementing gender diverse requirements for all open roles;
- Advocating for enhanced cooperation with relevant stakeholders on the topic of gender equality and diversity, including with government agencies and the other private sector stakeholders to foster a harmonized and coordinated approach in implementing a gender equal and inclusive business environment;
- Sharing experiences and best practices regarding the implementation of gender equality and diversity;
- Supporting work-life balance for all employees, offering flexible work arrangements whenever possible, to promote a healthy work environment for staff.
