Yesterday, on January 8, Uldis Cērps, Chairman of the Board of Finance Latvia, spoke at a discussion organized by AmCham Latvia about current issues in the financial sector, during which he emphasized the role of banks in promoting economic growth.
In his speech, Uldis Cērps focused on the current lending environment, analyzing the factors that stimulate and limit the growth of issued loans, as well as providing specific recommendations for improving the institutional environment.

About the Speaker:
Uldis Cērps is a senior financial risk professional with over 30 years of experience in leadership, executive, and non-executive roles across central banking, regulation, and financial market infrastructure. From October 1, 2024 Uldis was appointed CEO of Finance Latvia, the primary advocacy organization representing nearly all banks in Latvia, along with leasing and other financial sector companies.
Previously, Uldis was an advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, contributing to central bank's key policy committees including the Financial Stability Policy Committee and the Supervisory and Regulatory Committee.
Uldis has also served as an observer of the Audit Committee of the European Investment Bank. Uldis holds certification as a compliance professional by the International Compliance Association, ICA. He is currently undertaking doctoral studies in business administration at Heriot Watt University.
