AmCham advocacy effort succeeds

On June 8, Renate Strazdina, Board Member of AmCham Latvia and the Chair of Labor Force working group participated in the Latvian Radio broadcast "Global Latvian in the 21st Century" and shared the Chamber's view about the quality and content of upskilling and retraining programs as well as attracting talent and promoting Latvia as a career destination.

On June 9, Education, Culture and Science Committee of the Saeima discussed the draft law "Amendments to the Law on Higher Education Institutions" and expressed support related to reforms to the governance model of higher education institutions. More information is available HERE

On June 9, Legal Affairs Committee of the Saeima supported the amendments to the Law "On Judicial Power" in the third reading, which forsee the introduction of the Economic Affairs Court as a specialized district (city) court of first instance. Read more HERE

On June 10, Zinta Jansons, President of AmCham Latvia and Liga Smildzina-Bertulsone, Executive Director of AmCham Latvia met with Ilze Vinkele, Minister of Health to discuss more sustainable principles of the healthcare budget planning, the conference on Health Data, selection of new Director for National Health Service, the future of Latvia's e-health system as well as involvement of AmCham members in the work of working groups represented by the Ministy of Health.
