AmCham contributes to digital health

Jun 26, 2023

A Memorandum of Cooperation focusing on the development and digitization of the health sector in Latvia was signed on July 7, 2022. As one of the signatories, AmCham plays a key role in the Digital Health Council established by the Ministry of Health. The memorandum aims to enhance the quality of health services, data accessibility, and working practices of healthcare professionals. It envisions the availability of health data in national and European health data spaces to advance the sector.

In 2023, the Ministry of Health formulated a Digital Health strategy, which was discussed in the Digital Health Council. On June 20, 2023, the Ministry announced that comments from AmCham and other council members were acknowledged, and the document will undergo final reconciliation with other Ministries.

AmCham presented a supportive stance on Digital Health, advocating for:

  • Clearly defined priorities and responsible organizations with a timeframe for implementing the agreed scope of developing a sustainable digital health environment in Latvia.
  • Interoperability and standardization of health data within Latvia's Digital Health ecosystem to facilitate secondary data usage.
  • Enhancing the user experience of the Digital Health ecosystem to support users rather than create additional challenges.
