19 AmChams call EU Member States to increase outreach on TTIP

Mar 11, 2015
On March 24, 2015, 19 American Chambers of Commerce in Europe sent a joint statement to the EU Trade Ministers ahead of the informal meeting in Riga calling to increase Member State outreach on TTIP.

The Chambers called on EU Trade Ministers to better communicate the potential benefits of TTIP to citizens and SMEs. They are proposing the Member States to highlight the efforts made to increase transparency around TTIP and the negotiations, dispel misinformation and misconceptions and improve dialogue with stakeholders on key issues.

In the view of AmChams, the Members States should hold regular and active consultations with domestic stakeholders about the potential benefits TTIP can bring, such as greater consumer choice, more competitive prices, specific gains for SMEs and stronger EU-US ties at a time of geopolitical uncertainty in Europe.

The joint statement was signed by the following AmChams:

  • The American Chamber of Commerce in Austria
  • The American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium
  • The British-American Business Council
