On the March 22nd Mobile Health Care Center (Care Mobile) together with doctors from Children's Clinical University Hospital of Latvia is visiting Madona to greet it's 25 000th patient since program launch in 2011. It is well known fact that ophthalmologists, children neurologists and allergologists are highly requested in all times. Also the demand for speech therapists has grown recently - more children are having problems starting talking and speech disorders are more frequent.

The main aim of Care Mobile is to provide free medical care to children throughout Latvia especially in rural areas, where medical accessibility remains challenging due to various reasons. Instead of bringing children to doctors, Care Mobile brings doctors to the children near their homes and offer primary health care.

Secretary of Social Department of Madona Municipality Arija Brilovska: "It is problematic for children from rural areas to get to the doctors. In our everyday work we are acting as coordinators and preparing the list of patients and doctors, and it appears that demand for doctors is higher than Care Mobile professionals are able to provide. If it is intended that one doctor can exam around twenty small patients in one visit, usually a reserve of six or seven patients is formed, and they will patiently wait for the next doctor's visit in municipality. There are extra patients sent to include in list by family health care doctors. Doing our routine work, and registering the requests, it is clear that free medical services provided by Care Mobile are highly needed and families are grateful for possibility to visit doctors in time and in their home town."

Every year Care Mobile visits more than 60 places all over Latvia. Care Mobile is a 12 m long, 2.4 m wide vehicle built for delivering pediatric health care. It has two examination rooms (one of them is an eye clinic) equipped with medical equipment, a reception and a video education corner; it is completely self-sufficient with a generator and its own water supply.

The Care Mobile is charity organization and providing services only because of generosity of donors. Every donation is very important to maintain regular medical exams for children. The cost of 1 visit is 25 Euros, which includes doctors' salaries, taxes, travel expenses and gasoline.
