Finalists of Human Development Award announced

The Human Development Award Jury has announced the finalists of the Human Development Award of Latvia 2015. The purpose of the award is to promote human development, prosperity, and the well-being of Latvia's people.

Overall 45 nominations were received from across Latvia. The following finalists in four categories were selected:

Nominees' accomplishments were evaluated by the jury of recognized experts, representing both partner organizations and representatives from Latvian society on the following criteria:

  • Impact: Demonstrable impact on society.
  • Sustainability: Sustainable development.
  • Innovation: Innovative, creative and original approaches.
  • Inspiration - Actions serving as a model of practice for others.

Latvian citizens, companies and organizations registered in Latvia were eligible to be nominated for the award.

The winners in each category will be announced at the Award Ceremony and Dinner on April 16 at 6:30 pm at the Riga State Gymnasium No.2. The winners will receive a sculpture "Sprout" made by the artist Olga Silova and other special prizes by the program sponsors. Joining as keynote speakers will be Minister of Education and Science, Marite Seile, Charge D'Affaires U.S. Embassy, Sharon Hudson-Dean.

The Award is supported by the European Commission Office in Latvia.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia (AmCham), the U.S. Embassy in Latvia and the Civic Alliance of Latvia are holding the Human Development Award to honor inspirational people, businesses and organizations.
