Latvia and Microsoft will work together to advance AI innovation

Dec 17

On December 3, 2024, Latvia’s Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, the Investment and Development Agency (LIAA), and the State Digital Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft. This agreement underscores Latvia’s commitment to developing a National Center for Artificial Intelligence and advancing key digital initiatives.

The collaboration aims to modernize public administration, optimize processes, and address resource challenges through AI and digital tools, with the goal of making Latvia a digital leader in the Baltics and Europe. A pilot project focusing on process digitization will launch later this year with Microsoft’s support.

The partnership will also strengthen Latvia’s technological ecosystem, driving economic growth and enhancing the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of public services. The National Center for AI will further support business innovation, while AI solutions will streamline administrative processes and improve data analysis.
