Luminor receives best ESG rating in Baltics

Dec 12, 2023

For the second year in a row, Luminor has received the best environmental, social responsibility and governance (ESG) risk rating among the largest banks in the Baltic States – 12.4. Luminor was also ranked 61 out of 1,009 banks worldwide.

The Sustainalytics assessment highlighted Luminor Bank's good environmental performance, as well as its persistent move towards a low-carbon economy. Luminor was also recognized for social risk management, including linking executive compensation to ESG goals, informing and educating people about various features of the bank's products, and regularly training employees on data privacy management and cybersecurity.

Sustainalytics praised the bank's sustainability reports, entrusting the oversight of ESG issues to the bank's board, the solid data protection policy and governance structure, the well-developed anti-bribery and corruption policy, and compliance with anti-money laundering obligations. Luminor continues to move forward in the field of sustainability - in 2022, Luminor Bank was the first in the Baltic market to disclose information about its financed business project for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the previous financial year and continued this practice this year as well.
