"MikroTik" donates one million euros to the Latvian University Foundation

The Latvian computer network equipment manufacturer "MikroTik" donated one million euros to the University of Latvia (LU) foundation. The donation will be directed to the support of the branches of science represented by the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Technologies, as well as the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, informed the LU.

LU stated that the company has been a generous patron of the LU Foundation since 2011, providing invaluable support for student scholarships, as well as financing important research projects and researchers' work, including the purchase of equipment.

The LU platinum patron has so far supported scholarships for seven future physics teachers, 34 doctoral students have received support for three years for the development of high-quality doctoral theses in the field of exact, life and medical sciences, 29 excellence scholarships have been awarded to future bioinformatics specialists specializing in bioinformatics and molecular biology.  

Support is also provided to researchers, making a significant contribution to the development of Latvian science, both in fundamental and applied research. 127 research projects have been supported so far.  

Since 2011, the UL Foundation has already received donations worth more than six and a half million euros from MikroTik.
