700 books donated for a good cause

On June 1, during the International Children's Day, a leading restaurant chain McDonald`s launched a charity campaign in cooperation with the Latvian Foster Family Association, encouraging everyone to donate books for Latvian foster families. From the 1st to the 8th of June all McDonald's restaurants offered donation sites, where everyone could leave used or new books. As a gratitude for those who donated a book McDonald`s gave an ice cream "Croissant" free of charge. Thanks to McDonald`s more than 700 books were donated by people during this charity campaign. All donated books will be delivered to Latvian foster families with a special inscription to each reader.

Latvian Foster Family Association aims at promoting social inclusion of children under the care of foster parents and guardians. Association has united 170 guardians and foster families with 336 children from all regions of Latvia. 1400 children still don't have a possibility to have a family care in Latvia. 1400 children must live at orghanages.
