Nikolai Pereira becomes an Individual member

We’re excited to welcome Nikolai Pereira as our newest individual member! Nikolai is a co-founder of a US tech company in the logistics robotic process automation space. He is a graduate of Cornell University.
 

This week AmCham members had a unique chance to go behind the scenes of TV and radio stations of TV3, and meet Rihards Snikus, Latvian Paralympic equestrian who won 2 gold medals in the Paralympic Games in Paris earlier this year. We experienced a truly inspiring evening full of positive emotions.

Unique digital initiative for heart disease prevention and treatment

The leading digital health startup Longenesis, in collaboration with Daugavpils Regional Hospital and Novartis Baltics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a pilot project for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The project aims to create a dynamic digital registry for heart failure and dyslipidemia patients, enhancing risk group identification and enabling timely treatment. Patient enrolment is set to begin at Daugavpils Regional Hospital in early 2025.

International School of Riga expands to Skanste

International School of Riga (ISR) and Baltic Horizon Fund has signed a lease agreement for approx. 3,680 m2 premises in the S27 building in Riga. The lease is one of the largest office agreements in Riga this year. "With this exciting step forward, we eagerly anticipate welcoming even more students as we continue to grow and thrive together”, says Dr. Amanda Romey, ISR Director.

Apply for BAFF program and bring U.S. experts to Latvia

The Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF) invites Latvian non-governmental organizations to apply for funding through the Baltic-American Dialogue Program. This funding provides an opportunity to bring U.S. experts, consultants, and specialists to Latvia to help NGOs achieve their goals more effectively and contribute to meaningful societal impact.

On November 19, AmCham held an informative workshop promoting value-based procurement (VBP) in healthcare. The workshop featured lectures and best practices from university clinical hospitals as well as regional hospitals on implementing procurement strategies that use value-based criteria, not just price. This was the third consecutive year for AmCham actively promoting VBP and continuing the dialogue with stakeholders. 

1000 days later: support for Ukraine remains essential

1000 days on from Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, AmChams in Europe remains steadfast in its support for the Ukrainian people. Since February 24, 2022, Ukraine has demonstrated remarkable resilience. Motivated by this resolve, governments on both sides of the Atlantic have been determined and united in supporting Ukraine and its people. The strength of this response is a testament to the power of transatlantic cooperation and public-private partnerships. 

AmCham members convened to discuss Empower Her initiative aimed at encouraging women’s economic empowerment. The group will focus on contributing to a more equitable and equal society by sharing best practices by female as well as male business representatives.

On November 14, the Healthcare work group convened to discuss its ongoing activities. The Value-based procurement sub-group leadership reported on the upcoming workshop. The group continues to work on digital health, secondary data legislation, and sustainable healthcare financing.
