On August 16 the AmCham Digital Affairs and AI working group held a meeting to discuss ongoing work on the Position paper on Latvia's digital transformation and AI. The meeting took place at the newly established AI Studio at the Riga Business School.

Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga has achieved Silver Certification through EarthCheck, the world’s leading business advisory group specializing in sustainability and destination management for the travel and tourism industry. “The EarthCheck Silver Certification validates our initiatives aimed at minimizing waste, conserving water, enhancing energy efficiency and giving back to the community”, says their GM.

On August 8, members enjoyed a warm summer evening at the Joint Chamber Summer Happy Hour co-hosted by the American, British, Finnish, Latvian American, Norwegian and Swedish Chambers of Commerce. In addition to networking, donations were collected to support RMHC Latvija and their efforts to assist Latvian children to get medical support right where they live.

On July 26, the US Ambassador together with AmCham hosted a networking reception to welcome California state delegation to Riga. California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and Senator Josh Newman led the delegation of representatives of California State Senate as well as US companies from the energy, finance, private equity, robotics and other industries seeking partnerships in support of Latvian and broader EU market entry.

From red tape to red carpet? An overview of the financial landscape for investors

At the start of 2024, AmCham members collected examples of their experiences obtaining financial services in Latvia. This culminated in a paper detailing specific instances where opening bank accounts and other banking interactions proved unnecessarily difficult, and recommendations for improvement were provided.

Help 302 foster children receive school supplies

As the school year approaches, the Latvian Foster Family Association is launching their annual charity campaign, “School children must go to school.”

On June 29, nearly 1000 guests gathered at a picnic to celebrate the 248th Anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. American traditions, food, music, and various activities highlighted the festive family event. The atmosphere of the event sparkled with positive energy as guests were buzzing all day long. Thank you everyone for joining this special occasion!

On June 27 Digital affairs and AI work group met with Gatis Ozols, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development on Digital Transformation Affairs. During the meeting, ongoing efforts in the digital and AI policy and further collaboration were discussed.
